I had a recent encounter with someone that took issue with the fact that Cold Dead Hands defends the 2nd amendment…. While promoting Christian faith. No telling how much they really hated the Founding Fathers for doing the same.
Among other beliefs the person expressed that they didn’t believe that the bible or Christianity has anything to do with self defense.
The day after that encounter I tuned into the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and caught a brief clip of the attorneys and judge haggling over the instructions given to the jury. I do not have access to any text or vid clip of what I heard at this time… but what got my attention was the “quiet part” being said out loud.
The reference in the instructions that Self Defense is a revocable privilege...
The best context I can give you in the jury instructions making a reference to “the privilege of self defense” was that the “privilege” could be revoked under certain circumstances… as it applied to the case.
I chewed that over in my mind for a few hours, along with a jumble of seemingly unrelated topics such as Pascals Wager , and Shrodingers cat …. And a lot of the other debates and arguments I have taken part in over the last week, a lot of which dealt with the Divinity of Jesus. All of which involved me using the bible for a defensive instrument rather than an instrument of healing.
Now, the bible isn’t necessarily an either or instrument. It is a double edged sword. And I prefer to use it for healing, and regularly do so for myself and for any that want to open their hearts and minds and allow themselves to be healed by a little salt and light that I can witness and testify.
However, I do not think it takes a lot of honest understanding of the bible to see… the underlining story in it is one of personal defense while the main focus of the bible is the delivery of Hope.
What are we defending ourselves against?
Evil. And it is God that prepares us for War and equips us for Battle. Something I have personally experienced in my life.
Same person that was taking exception to CDH talking about God was also attacking our faith in some very childishly ignorant questions.
“Why dont you pray to your God instead of carry a gun?”
“Oh yeah? Then who made your God?”
It’s real funny to hear that last question from someone that believes something came from nothing with a Big Bang... and organized itself into systems of laws that are observable from a biological perspective spanning into the cosmological.
The same person is required to have absolute blind faith in perfect accidents… but expresses no faith in miracles. And I honestly can’t take the question serious and kindly defer to Ken Ham who offers the best honest way of answering it.
But as to why I don’t pray to God instead of carrying a gun…
Let’s be clear that after what God did to make me into who I am….. It is the unGodly that need protection from me and any consequence God let’s fall on them for rejecting Him and not the other way around.
People stuck in Shrodingers cat box no doubt are scoffing at that, while people taking Pascals wager would attack me for being “unChristlike” to them.
But while we are waiting for a verdict in the Rittenhouse case, that has placed every Liberty Minded American on trial; I am left wondering how many on the jury understand the difference between an Inalienable Right, such as self defense… and a revocable privilege.
The guy challenging me over bringing God to a gunfight has no comprehensible way of defending God Given Rights. And I would have to revoke his privilege of even attempting to do so for me, or anyone who has them.
God only knows what direction such a person would decide in that jury while the prosecutor is claiming such things as: “The real heroes are the people who were attacking a 17 year old boy that was trying to defend his community!” and “You give up your right to self defense when you bring a gun!”
Apparently I give up my Right to defense when I bring God to a gunfight. I haven’t figured out how to turn Godmode off yet, even if I wanted to.
I mean… is that guy going to disagree with the prosecutor who believes a hollowpoint bullet is explosive ordinance? Why would he?
Because the Constitution? Umm…. the constitution doesn't necessarily define itself or explain why bearing arms is a Right. Or why any Right is a Right for that matter. A legalist mind can easily try to argue “You can have a gun, you just can’t use it for anything!” In fact people trapped in the logic box of shrodinger’s cat… are already claiming that.
The prosecutor against Kyle was trying to argue over what the boy believed he was doing in one of the “brazen arguments” against the judge. Not what Kyle actually did by evidence… what the prosecutor believed that Kyle believed.
Under those kinds of attacks, how do you defend Personal defense as a Right…. Much less even yourself for exercising that right? What makes you any better than the person you are “attacking” to defend yourself?
One of the greatest fights in the bible is found in Matthew 4, where satan came to tempt Jesus and challenged Jesus to throw himself off a mountain to prove Himself.
I see that same challenge in people attacking me for not “praying to God instead of carrying a gun.”
Let's be honest about the motives such a person has, they obviously feel no Christian has a right to defend themselves… with a gun or with anything. And I know a lot of people who consider themselves Christian would agree with that and missapply a lot of verses to deceive others into Tempting God in ways not even Jesus did. Or maybe they can argue through their cat box they do, they just want to prove a Christian really doesn’t believe in God.
Either way I am not some prosecutor that is going to convict someone based on what I believe they are believing. A lie told by someone who believes they are speaking truth… is still a lie from someone lying. And I tend to call such people Liars, much to their outrage and hurt feelings.
However, I am going to judge based on your actions. And when your actions are at war with your words...I can already see there is defeat in you.
Let’s be honest for a minute about that kind of defeat I see in someone. I don’t count that as any sort of personal victory to see defeat in someone who desires to be my enemy. I want them to face the REAL enemy and achieve Victory. Victory over their own mind and heart and body so they can turn and become leaders for others to victory and help restore everyone to one loving family protected by brotherhood and ministered by sisterhood.
And not to each his own way in anarchy…. Until each his own way turns into marxist “from each according to their skill to each according to their need” utopian promises of unGodly ways that is destroying Life and Liberty in our country while turning it's back on The Pursuit of Happiness. That path begins with abandoning morality from God, as we can easily observe in our society today. And it’s sweet nothing promises are swallowed by soothing lies for itching ears such as “everyone has their own truth and their own morals.”
Sure cat, take that bet. Whatever it takes to sucker you into rejecting The Way, the Truth and The Life that God promised and delivers to anyone through Christ who historically lived, and died on a cross and rose from the dead to be the King that I serve to bow to no man outside of His authority.

Maybe you see the similarity…. Maybe you can even put what a martial arts master says together with what the Bible teaches.
